And now that there probably won’t be a sequel, the Gold Edition is the most Immortals Fenyx Rising content we’ll see for some time.An Amazon listing may have revealed the release date and pricing details for the long-awaited Dead Island 2, suggesting an official announcement is coming soon. All-in-all, you’re getting a lot for around $20/£20, especially considering the base game alone is on sale at the moment for $11.99/£11.99. The Gold Edition also has the two bonus quests: When the Road Gets Rocky and A Tale of Fire and Lightning. My favorite so far is Myths of the Eastern Realm, but there’s a lot to choose from there. That last DLC overturns things with a new top-down perspective and a different style of combat. There’s always something to work towards and I enjoyed my time with the base game - this Gold Edition also includes the Season Pass, getting you the Chinese mythology-inspired Myths of the Eastern Realm DLC, the A New God DLC, and The Lost Gods DLC. Immortals doesn’t take itself too seriously, and this works really well in this setting, with ridiculous characters and ludicrously over-sized flashy weapons. A big world full of loot can get a bit overbearing in some Ubi games, but in Immortals it was always fun to collect each new colorful piece of gear, new mount, new skin for Phosphor (your phoenix), and everything else scattered around the game. Like Breath of the Wild, it’s also easy to set yourself a destination and then get entirely distracted on the way by the sheer amount of stuff to explore. The Breath of the Wild inspirations are clear, and Immortals’ game world is beautiful to explore, with seven regions themed around different gods and goddesses. The humor is cheesy, the dialogue can be questionable, and the game name makes no sense (it should have stayed Gods & Monsters!) but that being said, there’s a lot to love about Immortals. Our character is the winged demigod Fenyx, who has to save the Greek gods from the titan Typhon and his army of mythological beasties. The game isn’t perfect, sure, but that didn’t matter so much to me when it was so much fun to play. We know the company is refocusing mainly on its major IP, but still - Immortals Fenyx Rising is a great game, and it’d be a real shame not to see a sequel. Ok, so this sales pick is partly fuelled by rage that Ubisoft has reportedly cancelled an Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel.
